I wish I can fly to Los Angeles this coming 6-8 June 2014 since there will be a great event related with immersive technology over there. This event called IMMERSION 2014 have quite a long tagline which is “Exploring the Impact of New Digital Technologies on Arts & Culture, Education, Human-Computer Interaction and Business“. Hence, this event will address the personal and cultural impact of the digital technologies in many categories. Actually, its kinda a lot, lot, lot of categories.
Those that I will be definitely interested are virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), mixed reality (MR), wearable computing, telepresence, virtual worlds, simulations and fully immersive environments such as caves and domes.
Others interesting and exciting area are mechanical & neural interfaces, affective computing, neuro-gaming technologies, 3D printing, personal robotics, virtual currencies & economies, game-based learning & training systems, immersive MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) and artificial intelligence (AI). Wow!!! That’s quite a lot of things to catch-up and cover in just three days! I am so excited with this event since it got a lot of interesting keynote topics, talks and speakers.
For your info, IMMERSION 2014 is brought to you by the team members from iED, Immersive Education Initiative, which is the non-profit international collaboration of educational institutions, research institutes, museums, consortia and companies. For this specific event, it is hosted by Loyola Marymount University (LMU) in collaboration with the Smithsonian Institution and the Western USA Chapter of the Immersive Education Initiative (iED West, for short).
