“Red Matter” VR Adventure Game Review
In this article we would like to review a VR adventure game called “Red Matter“. Just to let you know, this review is based from our own experience playing it using Oculus Quest 2. The experience might be differ for others. Anyway, we still hope we can help you by sharing our insights on it…
What is Red Matter Game?
Red Matter is VR adventure and puzzle game developed by Vertical Robot. This single user game was first released on 16th August 2019. Set in dystopian Sci-Fi Cold War, we will take the role of Agent Epsilon, an astronaut of the Atlantic Union.
As an astronaut agent, we will be dispatched to one of the Saturn’s moons where our mission is to investigate a top secret research project at abandoned Volgravian base.

How is the Red Matter Gameplay?
The setting of the environment is a little bit spooky because you are alone. But it is not a horror type of spookiness. So, we don’t have to worry about the jump scare.
The gameplay is very straightforward and the instructions are very clear. To move around, most of the time, we will perform click and point to teleport. We like the fact that when we teleport, we are jumping slowly in the air like astronaut on the moon. It really adds to the realism.
Other than that, we spend a lot of time pointing to the object and read the message in order to solve the puzzle. Most of them are easy to solve but some might be a little bit difficult.
One more thing we love about this game is that we do not have to worry about dying and start all over again. You just continuously work on the puzzle until it is solved and then move to next challenge.

How Red Matter Graphics or Images Looks Like?
We definitely love the graphics and images in this game which are beautifully rendered. The artists and developers have really done a very good job to make the virtual surroundings are really eye-candy and we always mesmerized by the level of details.
We love the shiny and reflection of the wall especially when it comes to metal. One thing we like most is our gloves design and color. It really looks sophisticated and we take time to look at it frequently during the journey to admire the beauty of it.

What Do We Like Most About Red Matter?
First, we damn love the graphics in it. It is spectacularly beautiful and is such a masterpiece. What a sight to behold! You got to try it to believe.
Second, because it is easy to play and we do not have to die in this game. So nothing to worry about and get frustrated easily.

Any Room for Improvements for Red Matter?
Wish it can also have multiplayer mode so we and our partner can solve the puzzle together. And perhaps they can make the game longer.

Based on checking, as at 22nd October 2022, you can get it at the price of USD 24.99 at Oculus Quest Store.
In Summary…
For us, it is a must have game for those who enjoy the adventure and journey type of game. Now it make sense that this game has received many good reviews and have been nominated a lot in awards event and able to reach as finalist.
