Firstly, this is the transcript on what Mark has said during Meta earnings call when announcing Meta’s quarterly results. Although most of the chunks of his long posting revolving around AI (Artificial Intelligence), but nearly at the end of the posting, there are some important information that the VR community can take a note here. #1. Commitment to Continue on Metaverse
According to Mark, they are not moving away from metaverse. They will continue to focus on both AI and metaverse because these two areas are related with each other.
Building the metaverse is a long term project, but the rationale for it remains the same and we remain committed to it.

#2. How AI Work Together with Metaverse
Mark also shared how these AI and metaverse support each other. One of the example given by him is Mixed Reality (MR) where it is built on AI technology for the purpose of understanding the physical world so they can blend it with digital objects.
To deliver compelling and immersive experiences, AI also help to procedurally generate worlds which is a key functionality to achieve it.
Mark also added that metaverse will also help to deliver AI as well for example by embodying AI agents with avatar technology which Meta heavily invest in. He also shared that there is now more than a billion Meta avatars have been created. Cool…
On top of that, their vision of AR (Augmented Reality) glasses will also involve an AI-centric OS (Operating System) that will be the basis for Next Generation Computing.
#3. Revenue & Usage of Quest
Another interesting fact that Mark shared is that the number of titles in Quest store with at least $25 million in revenue has doubled. And now, more than half of Quest daily actives spend more than an hour using that VR device. Splendid!
#4. Next Gen VR & MR Device
Okay guys, this will be the most exciting news for all of us. Mark also shared that Meta team right now is gearing up to launch their next generation VR and MR device later this year which targeted for consumer. He also emphasized that the price will still be affordable to mass market.
It was a very big step forward for VR, and I’m really excited to show the world all the improvements and new technology we’ve developed since then at a price point that will be accessible for lots of people.
