In this article, we would like to share to you on how to charge Meta Quest 3 headset. And this is based on our own experience.
When we first received the headset, it already had some power, but we weren’t sure how much was left. After using it for a while, a message popped up asking us to charge it.
For your info, the headset contains a rechargeable battery. Let’s walk through the steps to charge your headset properly.
Let’s Charge Our Meta Quest 3 Headset…
- First, we connect the Charging Cable to the Power Adapter. The charging and also data cable is the USB Type-C cable or commonly known as USB-C with the length of 1 meter. Please take note that using USB-C cable other than the one included inside the Meta Quest 3 box may lead to poor charging performance, injury or damage. Below is how they look like in Figure 1.
- One challenge we faced is that the power adapter included in the Quest 3 box uses a two-pin plug, while our country uses a three-pin system. As a result, we needed to find a universal power adapter to connect to the Meta power adapter (Figure 2).
- Next, connect the Universal Power Adapter to the socket or the wall outlet. And then we connect the last end of the Charging Cable to the headset. It is located at the left side of the headset and just above the Power button.
- When we start to charge it, you can see the LED light indicator turns to Orange color. It is located at the left side of the headset (Figure 4). The orange light means that your headset is in charging mode.
- When your Meta Quest 3 headset has fully charged, the LED light then turns to Green as shown in Figure 5 below.
- It’s done! Now, you can continue playing VR with your Meta Quest 3.
How Long is the Charging Duration for Meta Quest 3?
From the Meta Quest website, when plugged into a wall outlet using the included Meta power adapter, the headset should fully charge in about 2 ½ hours.
From our own experience, we observed that it takes around 2 hours to go from zero battery to a full charge. Not so sure how the timing will looks like in the future. But maybe you can use it as some sort of estimation.
