We believe that getting familiar with your Touch Plus Controllers is one of the first things you should do when you get your Meta Quest 3. After all, you’ll be using them frequently to interact with virtual environments, apps, and games.
Honestly, even we sometimes forget the proper names of the buttons and features on the controllers. So, without further ado, let’s dive in and get to know your controllers!
When you receive your Meta Quest 3 headset, the box will also include two controllers known as “Touch Plus Controllers“. Below are some of the most common uses of buttons on the controllers…
Right Touch Plus Controller
Let’s go through the button on the right Touch Plus Controller first. Figure 1 and Figure 2 below show you how the right controller looks like.

Trigger Button: Use this to select objects in your environment.
Grip Button: Use this button to grab objects or makes a fist when using your virtual hands.

Thumbstick: Use this to navigate inside your virtual environment.
Meta Button: Use this to brings up the “Universal Menu“. You can also press and hold it to recenter your view.
A Button: Use this to select objects in your environment.
B Button: Use this button to return to the previous screen or menu.
Left Touch Plus Controller
Next, let’s visit the left Touch Plus Controller. Figure 3 and Figure 4 below show you how the left controller looks like.

Trigger Button: Same as right controller, use this to select objects in your environment.
Grip Button: Same as right controller, use this button to grab objects or makes a fist when using your virtual hands.

Thumbstick: Use this to navigate inside your virtual environment.
Menu Button: Use this to brings up the menu inside apps, games or experiences.
X Button: Use this to select objects in your environment.
Y Button: Use this button to return to the previous screen or menu.
Lastly…
Finally, after you turn on your Meta Quest 3 headset, you can press any of the buttons to wake the controllers. As additional info, this controllers also can be used together with Meta Quest 3S headset.
