There is one immersive VR video from Verizon that sometimes we keep repeating it. It is an interesting short VR documentary with beautiful background music titled “Serengeti River Crossing“. At one point, we feels like being eaten alive by the Nile Crocodiles.

What the Immersive Video is About?

The “Serengeti River Crossing” VR video is about the Great Migration in Africa which happens once a year where millions of zebra and wildebeest attempt to cross the Mara River. Mara River begins in Narok County in southern Kenya and it ends in Mara Region in northern Tanzania.

The interesting facts about the river is that it is home to Nile crocodiles and hippos, the two dangerous animals in Africa. In the video, we can see the struggle from the animals’ perspectives like the zebra and wildebeest as they fight for survival amongst the crocodiles and fast moving currents.

This 9 minutes video is a 360-degree immersive video and it is created by Simon Fuller, an EMMY Award winner, together with John Downer who is an acclaimed wildlife director. For the beautiful background music, the soundtrack is composed by Cathy Dennis, a Grammy winner and Goldfrapp’s Will Gregory.

For your info, this video was first premiered on 23rd April 2021 and it is still worth to watch until now. As additional, the video is co-produced by Simon Fuller and Verizon company.

What We Think of the Video?

We love the video because there are many close up and zoom in shots with the wild animals. Furthermore, the background music is very mesmerizing and soothing.

Anyway, the one thing that we love the most is the close up to the large Nile crocodiles until its mouth. Maybe because deep inside, we are the “Croc Lover” like Steve Irwin 🙂

Sometimes, we just paused the video to admire the “beauty” of the crocodile skins and also their enormous size. There are many times that we feel that we are close to be eaten by the crocodiles especially at the last scene.

For us, the immersive video is a rare gem and sometimes we watch it once in a while.
